The clock spring is used to connect the steering wheel to other electrical devices, radio volume and station selections, horn and cruise control. A clock spring can become faulty when wires become worn and break causing a short or open circuit. This can cause the warning light to come on and th air bag to not operate. Horn, radio controls and cruise control can also stop functioning correctly as well.

It is highly advised to replace a faulty clock spring with a new unit as soon as possible, and get the code cleared. Fitting should be carried out by a qualified person.
